Essai du bout du monde

The Essai du Bout du Monde project is primarily aimed at the inhabitants, and more particularly young women, of Les Courtillières, a priority district in the city of Pantin. The objective is to bring them closer to regular sports practice and to bring down the representations which distract them from it. The second beneficiaries of the project are 24 ambassadors, French and Brazilian, who by their rugby practice and their social origin convey strong values to the women of Les Courtillières. Their commitment to the project gives them a sense of solidarity and professional skills. Finally, Essai du bout du monde is aimed at 300 children living in the Paraisópolis favela in São-Paulo; already beneficiaries of the Rugby Para Todos sports and social project, they will benefit from the same awareness-raising workshops set up in Pantin. ? ??‍♀️

“I became aware of the project in 2019, during the ambassadors’ tour of France. My participation in the final tournament in Pantin made me discover the culture of the Brazilian women and their excellent level of rugby! The success of the first part of Essai du bout du monde stimulated me to get more involved. In 2020-2021, I would like to get involved in various sporting and cultural events to communicate about the project. In order to give it greater exposure, I am now a sponsor with the aim of testifying to my experience of top-level sport 4 out of 9. As a rugby player in the women’s first division, I hope to be able to inspire the youngest people in our neighbourhoods and thus show them the idea that sport has no gender or social origin. This sponsor status has been materialised through a partnership with my workplace, the Decathlon de Rosny-sous-Bois. Since July, I have been coordinating discussions between my store and the Pantin Olympic Rugby and involving my colleagues in order to work together to achieve the objectives of Essai du bout du monde. These exchanges have led to two different events:

– August 28th: a day of immersion that allowed two ambassadors of the project to discover the jobs and values of decathletes. This “vis ma vie” was led by Nicolas, head of the team sports department, who enabled the two girls to acquire various skills.

 – September 5th: an initiation and awareness workshop in my shop which enabled dozens of children to discover mixed-gender rugby. The workshop was set up by 6 ambassadors of the project and myself, several decathletes took part in turn in the afternoon.”

On behalf of the entire Foundation team, congratulations on your investment, we are proud to support your project! ?
