Santiago

In the offices of Decathlon Chile, the "Soporte a la Cancha" project was born. From the office to the field", imagined by a team of committed employees and carried out hand in hand with the Ganémosle a la Calle association.

The Soporte a la cancha project

The Ganémosle a la Calle association has been offering free sports workshops in Santiago's working-class neighborhoods for many years. Its mission is to keep children off the streets, away from violence and dropping out of school thanks to a structured, caring environment.

Together, with the support of the Decathlon Foundation, they have designed an annual sports program for 850 children aged 10 to 18, spread over several centers, including Recoleta, one of the most vulnerable in the capital.

"We wanted our skills to have meaning beyond business. With Ganémosle a la Calle, we act directly where sport is a luxury, when it should be a right."

One Thursday a month to discover new sports

What's at the heart of the project? To organize a sporting activity every last Thursday of the month for two years, supervised by Decathlon employees. Tennis, volleyball, archery, table tennis, handball... sports not always accessible in working-class neighborhoods, which children can discover and practice in a safe and cheerful environment.

But the stakes go beyond sport:

  • Organize discussion sessions on gender equality, with a target of 30% female participation.
  • Involve Decathlon teams on a regular volunteer basis.

Enable young people at the end of their school careers to discover the world of business, through store visits and employability workshops.

Above all, a team project.

Launched by a team of marketing and communications staff, the project now involves more than 10 employees at Decathlon's Santiago offices, including several women in management positions. Each takes charge of a part of the project: communication, animation, impact analysis, material inventory...

The aim is for young people to make sport their own, to participate in it with enthusiasm, to forge a real bond with it, and for girls to find their rightful place in it.

The "Soporte a la Cancha" project fully embodies Decathlon's commitment to making sport a vehicle for well-being, equality and social transformation.
