My name is Suzana and I come from Slovenia, from the capital Ljubljana. I started working at Decathlon in April 2016. I'm customer service referent and sports referent for Nabaiji (swimming).
I'm also leader of the "Shiny people" project. Shiny people is the first Slovenian project supported by the Decathlon Foundation in Ljubljana. We're a group of ten Decathlon team-mates, and we're all passionate about sport.
We are volunteers in the Sonček association. I chose this association because I've been a member since 2014. Sonček is an association for people with cerebral palsy.
The project takes care of "special needs" beneficiaries. With the "Shiny people" project, we want participants to be more connected with sport and the community. The project offers sports activities adapted to people with disabilities. Our aim is to offer different types of sports, which will be implemented in our store, outdoors and at other sports venues. We practice different types of sports, for example; swimming, running, Nordic walking, ball games, dancing, yoga, hiking, table tennis, etc.
Our aim is also for them to work at Decathlon Ljubljana and to work with our colleagues under normal working conditions in our store. Thanks to this, they will get to know our daily life as well as our working environment, customers and Decathlon employees.
We believe that the association's beneficiaries will have a better life thanks to sport and physical activity.
I chose to get involved in the Foundation's project because I'd like everyone to have the opportunity to practice sport. I've been a sportswoman ever since I was a child, and for me it's part of my daily life. I'd like everyone to be able to feel this passion for sport. Working with people with special needs makes me happy. Every time I work with them, I can see how little it takes to be happy, and they fill me with energy."
