"Since 2007, Decathlon Sintra has been a benchmark sports store for the people of Lisbon, but we wanted to go even further in making sport accessible to as many people as possible, especially those who live near us and are our neighbors.
At Decathlon, we believe that no one should be left behind, and we believe in evolution and integration through sport. We work with APERCIM, an association that enables disabled children, teenagers and adults to continue practicing sport. By collaborating with APERCIM, we are convinced that this project will change the way disabled and disadvantaged people feel in our society.
We want to open doors for these people, show them that they are no less and, above all, that their well-being is important to us as Decathletes. That's why I decided to get involved in this project, to help build bridges between disabled people and a more independent life. The smiles and happiness of those we are able to help are of infinite value. I'm happy and proud to be part of the adventure with this project!
Tiago Casimiro, Sintra store
"I decided to be part of this project because I know that the inclusion of disabled people is a challenge for many companies. Although Decathlon is already very committed to this awareness, I think this project will help the company to mark our responsibility with our social environment. And on a personal level, I'm happy to be able to help and contribute to the inclusion of these people, knowing that they're not in the same situation as we are at the moment, and all by using sport to develop their cognitive abilities and their ability to cooperate with others.
Renata Carvalho, Sintra store
"I decided to join this project because, as well as being a teammate at Decathlon, I'm a therapist in a voluntary institution. I know very well the difficulties experienced and the importance of their work. For the incredible way in which APERCIM is dedicated to improving the quality of life, I feel it's my duty, as a teammate of one of the world's biggest sports companies, to do my utmost to help every beneficiary of the association in this challenge and help APERCIM to have all the equipment they need to achieve their goal."
