The Payatas Sport project is the result of an innovative program proposed by the cooperation of Decathlon Philippines and LP4Y, in which sport becomes the subject of micro-activity for young people. The program is open exclusively to women, in order to facilitate access to employment for girls and young mothers who are largely excluded from any economic activity in Payatas (more than 50% are stay-at-home mothers).
Based on the same model as the 44 programs integrated into LP4Y centers, the 17 young people at PayataSport will follow a path of professional and social integration to build self-confidence and independence.
The program lasts 9 months on average (5 days/week, 8h/day).
The young people will create, develop and manage a micro-economic activity, in this case the PayataSport sports club.
In the first year of collaboration, beneficiaries will practice four sports: Volleyball, Zumba, Badminton and Yoga.
Aiumi, Astrid and Nadège, 3 Decathlon employees, wanted to get involved with these young women.
"Helping LP4Y with this project was a no-brainer, I wanted to share my passion for sport! I grew up in Cebu and sport has given me the position I have today. I discovered rugby at an early age and am now a member of the Philippine national team, and I also played badminton during my scholarship. Within this project, I want to motivate young LP4Y women and the community to play sports so that they can set a goal in their lives. Every two weeks, I coach them with badminton training and help them with the subjects they need to know".

"I personally grew up in a poor family and my parents had to borrow money from friends and relatives just to give us a good education. I used it to progress in music, art and especially sports, creating bonds and learning different values from the failures experienced. With LP4Y, I want to share these values acquired in sport and give these young women hope and the opportunity for growth and development, and let them experience the joy of sport. Every two weeks, I train them to organize sporting activities".

"I've been involved with LP4Y since I arrived in the Philippines in September 2016, mainly to help young people discover the business world during their program with the NGO and facilitate their integration into the corporate world. I'm very happy to help young people in this country that I'm discovering and where I'm living a wonderful part of my life!
I have weekly contacts with the NGO coaches (volunteers), and I'm also proactive within the Youth Inclusion Network (a network of companies fighting against the exclusion of young people, initiated by LP4Y) of which Decathlon Philippines is one of the founding companies. I also practice yoga with them every two weeks".
